Secam Underwater Housing for D1 Cameras

The Seacam housing the the D1 family is the cream of the crop of underwater housings.  Very expensive, but very good in both form and function.  Also the quality is very good.  Doug has done about 15 dives with the housing holding his D1X and either the 16mm Fisheye, the 105mm Micro or the 17-35mm zoom lenses.

Doug uses the Sea and Sea YS90 DX flashes with the Seacam housing.  With the D1X they are only usable in fully manual mode, but this works just fine.  Shooting underwater using other then manual is very difficult and prone to error.  Once you dial in on a general setup for the camera, it only takes a little tweaking to get the results you want.  Being able to review your images in real time underwater really helps to dial in the camera.

Also, Doug uses the IBM 1 GIG Microdrive in the camera, this enables him to take over 300 Fine JPEGs or over 100 Nikon RAW files underwater.  Much more convenient then taking a 36 exposure roll of film or taking 5 or 6 bodies underwater.
