Nature photography including mammals, birds, scenic vistas and sites around the yard

Doug is relatively new to the photographic community starting to focus heavily on his art in late 2001. While always interested in photography, he had previously not spent the time or energy to apply his technical, analytical and creative skills towards this wonderful art form. Currently Doug still has a "day job" working in the computing industry focusing on gaming using weekends and vacations to photograph.

Since Doug is a technophile at heart the advent of serious digital photography equipment was the catalyst to get him to focus more of his attention to this art form and enabled him to learn the trade in real time, shoot-review-adjust-shoot. All the images you see on this site were taken with a digital camera of one form or another, mostly the Nikon D1X or D1H. See the equipment page if you are interested in learning more about what specific equipment he uses regularly.

Any of the images shown on this site are available for purchase.  Many more images also exist in the Images by DougH collection which can also be purchased. For more information on other images that are available, contact info@doughebenthal.com

We strongly encourage you to stay awhile and look around.  If you see something you like, drop us a note.  If you see something that you don't like, we wouldn't mind hearing that also, but please include why you don't like it versus just providing abuse.
